counseling model, we provide free care and education to women facing unexpected
pregnancies. We serve 30,000 women annually from 32 centers in 11 states.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide counseling in accordance with the empathetic approach of WCC, as outlined in
the counselor’s training manual. Counselor training will be provided.
Conduct counseling to clients in a gentle, joyful, hope-filled manner
Provide client focused care including:
o Answering the telephone promptly
o Personally welcoming all clients as they walk into the center
o Accommodating walk-ins when at all possible realizing that any client turned
away may not return to the center or recommend it to others
o Demonstrating ability to triage client appointments to ensure that AO/AV client
are served immediately
o Prioritizing client service over paperwork and administrative tasks
Ensure that confidentiality policy and other key policies of the organization are
maintained.
Be knowledgeable of the center’s referral guide and provide referrals to outside agencies
as needed.
With client permission, counselors should perform telephone follow-ups on all women
testing positive for pregnancy.
Encourage pregnant women to return to the center for follow-up care including education
and ultrasounds.
Identify program issues that need to be addressed by the center director.
Ensure proper documentation and recording of all client visits and contact, including
obtaining client signatures and recording in the WCC journal.
Assist as needed with the maintenance of the facilities and procurement of needed
supplies.
Qualifications
University or college degree preferred
Bilingual in Spanish and English required
Pastoral, compassionate, people-oriented
